Tips for Kid's Cups

At my house, it seems like a never ending story: the kids are thirsty, so they get a cup out of our cup-drawer (down where little hands can reach), fill it with water, take a drink, and leave their cup either on the counter or the table. Then they get thirsty again, take a new cup, get a drink of water, and put that cup somewhere (usually on the table or on the counter). It's as if the thought of reusing the same cup is foreign to them. By the end of the day, we've stacked up a bunch of cups on the kitchen counter.

Recently, I came across a great solution here:
  • Buy each child a reusable water bottle (you can find them at Wal-Mart, or wherever you shop) for around a dollar
  • Every day, fill it with water and place it on the table (this could be a child's chore)
  • The kids drink from their water bottle whenever they are thirsty--no more dirtying unnecessary cups
I thought this was a fabulous idea and just had to share it with you!

  1. Hi Cheryl ~ Thanks so much for linking to Large Families On Purpose! The water bottles do save sooo much hassle. We dont have spills anymore, I know how much water the kids are drinking per day and best of all..... they can do it themselves (littlest ones excluded of course). *big smile*

Have a great day with your precious ones!

  2. We have a different colored small plastic tumbler for each of our four kids. When the little ones couldn't reach the tap, one of the older kids was instructed to help. The cups sit lined up by the sink. They drink from them all day as needed, and then they get thrown in the dishwasher and set out the next day. :)

  4. Great suggestion! I, unfortunately, let the little one carry his sippy cup around the house so that's the biggest problem we have. I've worked diligently with our children to only use one cup a day and they stay on the counter. Really cuts down on the amount of dishes to wash!
