Healthy $10 a Day Menus

We have one pukey little guy, so depending on how that spreads, we may be in for an interesting week. I made my menu plan before the stomach bug hit, so this may all change. Here's how it stands now.

Monday
Oatmeal, bananas, orange juice
Southwest Salad (yeah...not for the little guy)
Roast Chicken with rosemary, red potatoes, carrots and asparagus (the chicken took longer than anticipated to thaw, so it's on tonight's menu)

TuesdayCoco-Wheats with peanut butter in the bowl, milk, pears
Chicken salad sandwiches, grapes
Roasted Chicken Tacos

WednesdayScrambled eggs, toast, mandarin oranges
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, milk, apples
Tater Tot casserole, mixed vegetables, jello

Thursday
Cereal
Leftover casserole
Pork chops and scalloped potatoes

Friday
Cream of Wheat
Cheese quesadillas
Creamy pasta with peas

Saturday
Pancakes, bacon, orange juice
Leftovers and snacks
Cheeseburgers, baked onion rings

Sunday
Fried eggs, toast, oranges
Super Bowl snacks:
Chili-cheese dip
White chicken chili, tortillas

  1. Hope the wee one feels better real soon and that the rest of the family stays healthy...

    Prayers and Blessings Kelsie

PS: Last night I made the Zesty Sausage Pasta dish you mentioned a couple of Mondays ago...Hubby loved it and we are having the left overs again tonight...This will probably become a new regular dish around here...Thank you.

  2. I like all of the variety in your menu. I think that is what is sometimes missing from my menu.

Good luck with the illness - hope it doesn't spread to all of you.

  3. Hi Kelsie,
So glad your family likes it! Mine too :)
The good news is the vomiting stopped for Jack (the youngest) but our other boys are saying they're not feeling well...so hopefully it won't hit in the middle of the night tonight!

    Amanda,
One thing that really helped me with menu planning was to think through different themes: maybe a Mexican night (enchiladas/fajitas/tacos/etc), an Italian night (a pasta dish for example), maybe a Chinese night (stir-fry), a casserole night, a
soup night. Then you can think about your favorites within those categories and add them in, or find new recipes to try. Following that pattern really helped me & know I don't even think about it too much--I just do it!
Hope that tip helps you too :)
    Blessings,
    Cheryl
